Lonely Summer

Here you are, back again

Like an old friend

That I never want to see

But will always be there, in the end

I want you gone, never come back to me

You bring me pain

Go away, don’t you understand?

All this suffering, and nothing to gain

My tool of relief, in my hand

What to do? What to do?

Call for help? But no one cares

The only one there for me is you

Your devotion is undaunted, unlike theirs

I sit alone, pondering, wondering, growing number

All the while, they laugh and smile

As I endure my lonely summer
